David & Haylee: Second chance romance

Tell us your love story — how did you meet, when did you know they were the one? :
Haylee and I met in college, Bradley University, in 2014. Looking back on it its fun to think of it as big city boy meets small town girl. We were discovering ourselves and found comfort in one another. But life got in the way, and I had a lot of growing up to do, so we went our separate ways. Then, in 2021 we reconnected when Haylee moved to Chicago. She gave me a chance to get things right this time, and before we knew it we were spending every moment with one another. When we realized we'd known each other for a decade, it became clear that we'd be together for the decades to come.

Do you have any advice or tips for others planning a proposal?:
When trying to decide on when and where to propose, you'll find the answer presents itself much clearer than you may think. For Haylee, it was La Push Beach in Forks, WA. We had made a trip out there years ago, and while visiting she made a comment about how funny it would be if I proposed right there and then. I committed that to memory, and years later we were right back there, just like she wanted, with the moody atmosphere and ocean at our backs.

Why did you choose a PNPS ring? What stood out to you?:
Haylee was mesmerized with PNPS, yet she was not sure what kind of ring would look good on her. We made an appointment to visit the studio is Snohomish for the sake of 'looking and trying things out.' Our consultant was incredibly insightful and patient, allowing Haylee to look at and try on many different styles and figure out what she did and didn't like in a ring. That hands-on experience helped the design and decision stage seamless for me, and the whole team was incredibly patient and communicative with me every step of the way.

What has been the most memorable part of your engagement/wedding?:
David: The buildup. I cannot keep a secret for the life of me, and without saying it out loud, both Haylee and I knew what was about to happen. We were all smiles and giggles all weekend, and then when the moment came it just felt like the perfect culmination of all these years had finally come to fruition.

Haylee: Absolutely the anticipation. I just had the feeling and knew in my soul what was happening, and it felt like a dream finally coming true. He did such amazing work planning and coordinating our entire weekend, and I was able to truly just soak up the moment and enjoy it being me and him.
