How did you and your partner meet?:
We connected through the dating app hinge, and met in person for the first time at a local ice cream shop. We both had plans to be somewhere afterwards, and before we knew it, 2 hours flew by and we were late to our other plans.
Describe the moment you knew they were The One.:
Niki - I knew Elijah was the one the day I told him I love him. It was a busy day full of family activities. Towards the end of the night, I had a moment where I soaked in all the love as I saw him embrace the madness and be a part of the family. I knew in that moment, we could have a wonderful life together.
Elijah - There was a day at work where everything was crazy and normally it would’ve felt like a terrible day, but all I could think about was how I would get to see Niki once work was over. I spent most of the time humming love songs to myself while working, which is something that I’ve never done before. I realized that she was the most important person to me because in that moment, just the thought of her got me through everything else.
Can you share the details of the proposal? :
We had a sunset picnic in the back of his truck at Gates Pass sunset lookout in Tucson, AZ. After chatting and eating some yummy snacks, he had me find a spot on the hill as the sun set. As we settled in, he got on one knee and proposed!
How did you celebrate after the engagement?:
Family means everything to both of us, so the surprises continued with a reservation at one of our favorite restaurants where both our of loved ones joined us to celebrate our special day!
Do you have any advice or tips for others planning a proposal?:
Keep it intimate. Make the moment special and full of love. It doesn’t have to be extravagant or some over-the-top event.
