Ashkon & Kolby: No Matter the Weather

Tell us your love story — how did you meet, when did you know they were the one? :
It started with a rock show. Both teenagers. Ashkon played guitar in a band and Kolby was a friend of a friend who frequented shows often. Over several years we just remained close friends and built a really solid friendship. Until one day Ashkon blew up the friendship with the simple phrase, "I think I'm in love with you". From then on out we were inseparable. Six years into dating, after already living together for the majority of that time period, I (Kolby) woke up one morning, with messy hair, in an oversized t-shirt and our cat in my arms and wandered into Ashkon's office at 7am. There he was kneeling, with a picture of a BEAUTIFUL ring, yet no physical ring in sight. Of course, I still said yes. He told me that we won't be dressed up everyday and won't be in a tropical location, but we will be here, in our home together loving eachother. So what better place to start our journey. Come to find out that he had actually planned a beach trip with my entire family for the proposal, but a hurricane came through that weekend as washed his plan away. He then had a backup plan to go to our favorite mountain where we hike, but the state park was closed due to the same storm. And on top of all of that, the beautiful Point No Point ring that he custom ordered was lost in the mail, and hadn't arrived yet. But, the ring that wasn't even here was a burning a hole in his pocket and he couldn't wait any longer! And that's how I think we knew we would make it. We just needed eachother, no matter the weather.

Do you have any advice or tips for others planning a proposal?:
Be true to your relationship. Let the proposal reflect your values, and your personality. Neither of us are huge 'statement makers'. So a grand proposal wasn't necessary for us. Perfectly quaint.

Why did you choose a PNPS ring? What stood out to you?:
Ashkon actually found Point No Point on his own (hats off to him). Our engagement was a huge surprise, we never spoke about rings in advance. Ashkon was looking for something unique and non-conflict. It's literally the perfect ring for me. I love it!

What has been the most memorable part of your engagement/wedding?:
Being surrounded by loved ones who have witnessed our journey together. Life hasn't always been easy, but having the support of our friends and family to celebrate with makes it that much more special.
