Meet Our Heirloom Revival Program
Some jewelry is simply too meaningful and special to leave tucked away in a box just because its design no longer feels modern. It may have belonged to someone you love, marked an important moment, or been part of your family for generations. The original setting may no longer feel like something you’d want to wear every day, but the stone, and everything it represents, means more than any price could ever capture.
We get it, and that’s why PNPS created the Heirloom Revival Program. Our team will work with you to reimagine your eligible heirloom diamonds and/or gemstones as a custom piece that feels personal, wearable, and true to your style. The design may look completely different, but its history and the story it carries will always remain.
Is Your Heirloom Stone a Fit?
This program is specifically intended for meaningful heirloom stones, rather than recently purchased gems. Because every stone has its own history, condition, and characteristics, all stones must pass a final in-house evaluation before the design process begins.
At this time, we’re unable to accept:
- Customer-provided salt and pepper diamonds
- Lab-grown stones
- Cabochon stones
- Newly purchased, customer-sourced stones
- Customer-provided gold or existing settings for reuse
Our jewelers will evaluate your stones for condition, authenticity, compatibility, design suitability, and whether they can be safely removed and reset. Some stones may also limit the settings or designs we can safely create—but we’ll always guide you toward the best option for your heirloom.
Choose Your Revival
Depending on the stones you have and the piece you hope to create, there are three ways to begin:
Center Stone Revival
Transform an heirloom center stone into a new custom engagement ring.
Accent Stone or Melee Revival
Give smaller heirloom gemstones a new life within a wedding band or another custom design.
Center Stone + Melee Revival
Bring a meaningful center stone and smaller accent stones together in one completely custom piece.
How the Heirloom Revival Process Works
1. Tell Us About Your Heirloom
Start by contacting our team and sharing as much information as you can, including:
- Photos of your heirloom from multiple angles
- Any known details or previous appraisals
- Design inspiration or reference images
- Your preferred style, metal, and ring size
- Your approximate budget and timeline
Your stone can remain in its original setting when you submit your inquiry, there’s no need to remove it first.
2. Initial Review
Our team will review your information and discuss what may be possible with your stones. This first review helps us understand your vision and determine whether your project may be a good fit for the program.
Note: Please keep in mind that final approval can only happen after your stones have been evaluated in person.
3. Estimate and Deposit
If your project is eligible to move forward, we’ll provide a ballpark estimate and direct you to the appropriate deposit:
- Center Stone Revival: $2,000 deposit, with $1,700 credited toward your finished piece.
- Accent Stone or Melee Revival: $1,000 deposit, with $800 credited toward your finished piece.
- Center Stone + Melee Revival: $2,500 deposit, with $2,100 credited toward your finished piece
Please do not purchase a deposit unless you have been directed to do so by our team.
Your deposit supports the specialized work completed before production. Depending on your project, this may include bespoke CAD design, shipping to and from our studio, careful stone removal, a NAGL appraisal for eligible center stones, and return shipping if you decide not to proceed.
What if you change your mind? If you decide to not move forward, a portion of the deposit will remain nonrefundable to cover services already completed:
- Center Stone Revival: $400
- Accent Stone or Melee Revival: $400
- Center Stone + Melee Revival: $500
Note: Additional removal fees may apply when multiple stones are requested for one piece.
Project Minimums
Heirloom Revival projects require additional evaluation, handling, stone removal, appraisal, and custom-design work.
Project minimums begin at:
$3,000 for wedding bands using heirloom melee
$4,000 for engagement rings using an heirloom center stone
Although reusing your stones may reduce certain material costs, Heirloom Revival is not necessarily a lower-cost alternative to a traditional custom design. The true value lies in creating something deeply personal from stones that already mean so much.
4. Evaluation and Appraisal
Once your piece arrives at our studio, our jewelers will carefully evaluate your stones for condition, authenticity, compatibility, and design suitability.
When necessary and safe, we’ll remove the stones from their original setting. Eligible center stones will then be sent to the North American Gemological Laboratory for appraisal, which generally takes one to two weeks.
5. Your New Design Comes to Life
After your stones have been evaluated and scanned, our designers will create CAD renderings of your new piece. You’ll be able to preview the design, share your feedback, and request approximately one to two minor revisions.
Choosing an entirely new design direction or changing stones after this stage may require additional fees.
6. Approval and Production
Once you approve the final design, you’ll sign the Scope of Work and submit the remaining balance. Your piece will then move into production, where our jewelers will begin bringing your design to life.
Fabrication takes approximately 10–12 weeks from final payment. If you have an important date in mind, please let us know as early as possible.
