Aliona & Ashley: A Transatlantic Instagram Love Story

Tell us your love story — how did you meet, when did you know they were the one? :
We are a true, modern day love story. In mid-2023 I was doing my typical scrolling on Instagram when I literally scrolled right past one of her reels. I even remember stopping my scroll and thinking, “she’s beautiful.” I scrolled back up, and began following her content. I would comment on a post every now and then, but she never responded or acknowledged. I honestly didn’t think much of it due to the amount of followers she has. My love/hate relationship with social media got the best of me, and I took a break from it. I’m not sure how long my hiatus was, but when I logged back on, a few days into it I received a message from her stating she’d missed my comments. I sincerely had no idea where she was from or where she was, but I knew that I was drawn to her. We started talking through Instagram frequently. I got to know who she was and where she’s from and I knew I was falling for her. Logistics were a pain. Long distance of the highest order. The Atlantic Ocean separated us. That didn’t deter us. In early 2024, we made Us official. She visited the states that summer. I went to Europe thereafter. Multiple trips to Europe, crazy phone schedules to make time to talk and FaceTime. But beginning in spring of this year, I knew I wanted to not just be with her forever, I wanted to marry her. She and I had both were a bit cynical about marriage prior to meeting, but ever since I had met her, I knew I wanted to be her husband someday.

Do you have any advice or tips for others planning a proposal?:
Love is easy when it’s Love. Regardless of distance or circumstance, Love is easy when it’s truly love.

Why did you choose a PNPS ring? What stood out to you?:
I had shopped literally thousands of rings. From store shopping to online shopping, so my algorithm was pretty narrow minded during this time. I was bombarded daily with unique, beautiful rings that somehow never jumped out. PNPS rings, however, did. I’d scroll through the catalog daily. I knew it’s cliche, but I just felt like the ring would speak to me when I saw it. The moment her ring slid across the screen, I said “that’s the one.” I even commented on the post stating such.

What has been the most memorable part of your engagement/wedding?:
I had a whole thing planned for the proposal. But after much thought and just realizing the serendipitous nature of our relationship, I got down on my knee in my bathroom after carrying the ring with me everywhere for two days, and I proposed to her. There’s so much perfection in our imperfections and my proposal was perfect even if it looked nothing like I thought it would. I love that woman so much. And I just cannot wait to be her husband.
